The Principals
Jon and Caroline Bolland
Jon and Caroline met and married at Birmingham University. They have two grown-up children Emma, who is a senior solicitor working for the General Medical Council and James who works as a Doctor in the United States. After qualifying in 1981 they worked as associates in a large group practice before founding the South Cave practice in 1984. Jon has recently retired from clinical dentistry and is no longer registered with the GDC. He continues to play an active role in the administration of the practice. Caroline remains the ‘heartbeat’ of the practice enjoying all aspects of family dental care. In her spare time Caroline enjoys visits to the gym, swimming and travel abroad.

The Associates
Louise Tansey
Lou is the practices’ senior associate having joined us in May 2004. Lou qualified from Liverpool University in 1997 and is a valued member of our team. She is married and has two children. Her dedication to her family is reflected in her professional life as she is committed to the provision of quality dentistry for all the family. Away from the practice Louise is a keen walker and cyclist.

Steven Foley
Steve qualified from Newcastle University in 1987 and has a wide range of experience having worked both in private practice and the Community Dental Service. A family man, Steve’s hobbies include squash, gardening and trampolining.

Natalie Thom
Natalie joined our team us at the start of July 2009. Another graduate from the Leeds Dental Institute (Class of 1998) Natalie is a busy working Mum with two children. Natalie has completed a cosmetic course in smile design and loves helping people achieve the smile of their dreams. Natalie’s hobbies include singing with the all ladies harmony group The Abbey Belles Chorus.

Helen Fairey
Helen joined our team in February 2011. She qualified from Newcastle University in 1995 and has a wide range of experience having worked both in private and NHS practice. Helen is married and has a son, who keeps her on her toes. Her interests are cooking, snow skiing and sports. Helen is a keen member of Pocklington Tennis club.

John Essam & Helen Cowley
John and Helen met at Leeds Dental Institute and graduated in 1990. They were married soon after qualifying, Helen continues to work under her maiden name.
Helen and John are both committed to providing preventative dentistry for the whole family. When they aren’t providing a taxi service for their two teenage children, they enjoy travelling abroad and wildlife watching.
Maria Arghirescu
Maria joined the team in November 2016. She graduated from Ovidius University in 2005 and started her professional career in her family owned practice. She moved on to Madrid where she lived and worked, whilst successfully completing a post-graduate course in orthodontics.
Since locating to the U.K. in 2009 she has completed a number of post-graduate study programmes in orthodontics, restorative dentistry and dental aesthetics. Her special interests are in orthodontics and aesthetics. Maria’s work ethic stresses the importance of long term continuing care whilst providing treatment of excellent quality.
Away from work Maria enjoys travelling and scuba diving.
